Events/Shows

The producers of children’s television have really stepped up their game! Not only do they sell every toy imaginable in relation to their show they also produce live performances around the country of these shows.  If you can, I recommend these events, they are engaging, and my son had a great time seeing all his favorite characters come to life.

A few tips:

  1. 1. Partner up with another parent to get the “extra credit” of having a play date in addition to seeing the show (also never hurts to have a second pair of hands!)
  2. 2. Don’t bother with the VIP experiences they will try to sell you on, its extra money you don’t need to spend, and you really don’t get much for it.
  3. 3. Be prepared to either spend a decent chunk of change at the venue or deal with whining. As soon as we got there the boys saw the light up toys, cotton candy, popcorn, t-shirts and it was whine central until we agreed on 1 cotton candy for them to share and t shirts.
  4. 4. Most venues will not let you bring in outside food so try offering a snack before going in.
  5. 5. Try to plan around your child’s nap schedule; the cotton candy and excitement crash after the show will be intense so choose which showing you want to go to wisely. The afternoon is great but if your child falls asleep too close to dinner/bedtime it may mean a long night for you.
  6. 6. Go with the flow and enjoy the show, remember you paid for your ticket too so get in on the fun!
